What is EXMAR
EXMAR is a globally operating company in the shipping industry, with branches in Europe, China, America, and Asia. EXMAR is also present in Africa, currently very active in Congo with TANGO.
EXMAR is a provider of floating solutions for the operation, transportation, and transformation of gas.
The Challenge
For managing all information regarding the ships under management by EXMAR Ship Management, a Vessel Information Portal (VIP) was used. This application was a custom-developed web application. However, this VIP had some disadvantages, which led to the decision to have a new application built.
Solution
In the first phase, the functionalities of the existing VIP were implemented in the new application. The application allows for the management of various ships in an easy, clear, and intuitive manner. All data can be consulted and/or modified. Adjustments can be made in a tabular view for multiple ships simultaneously. Various documents can also be easily generated using the data from the VIP. A renewal of the VIP to simplify administrative management.
Technology
The platform used is Microsoft 365, with a specific implementation on SharePoint Online, utilizing skybow for establishing the data model, customizing forms, and generating documents. In a subsequent phase, workflows can also be implemented using this platform. Power Automate is also used for receiving and processing Port Calls.
Result
The new Vessel Information Portal (VIP) eliminates the need for users to set up a VPN connection. Modifying data, managing permissions, and generating reports are now much more structured and easier to navigate. It is also easier to modify when necessary. Using Port Calls for status information such as the next port, expected arrival time, etc., is automatically processed and stored in the Vessel Information Portal (VIP) through a Power Automate flow.
